Mr. M. Shane Burton

Shane Burton has been a teacher for eleven years, eight of those at Bishop Kelly. During the last eleven years, he has taught twelve different subjects and coached four different sports. He is currently the head coach for BK’s golf team.

Mr. Burton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Health. He has also earned a Master’s degree in Educational Technologies from Lesley University of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Shane has continued to take technology classes in Photoshop, Web Design, and Data Bases.

Mr. Burton believes in order to be a truly effective teacher one must have a good grasp of the subject matter, a desire to learn, and most importantly enjoy kids. He likes to connect with his students by taking an interest in their lives and using a lot of humor in class. Shane says that teaching is an art and that you can’t fake it when it comes to sincerity, honesty and humor. Mr. Burton’s students trust him and know that he will not let them down.

Away from school Shane’s passion is hunting with fishing coming in a close second. He is an avid reloader of his own ammunition and fly tier for his fishing needs. Mr. Burton is also an excellent golfer and through golfing has been involved in many fundraisers for the Special Olympics.
