As a Bishop Kelly student, Larry Crump was a three sport athlete, as well as active in the art and drama departments. He even performed lead roles in The Odd Couple and Fiddler on the Roof.

Upon graduation from Bishop Kelly, Larry spent a short time at Idaho State University and Boise State University before choosing to work full-time in the Air Freight business. His life’s direction began to change in the fall of 1985 when former teacher, coach and friend, Neil McCarthy, asked him to coach the freshman basketball team. Mr. Crump agreed to help for just one season until a “real coach” could be found. However, after one season he was hooked and knew he had found his calling. While still working full-time Larry returned to Boise State.

In 1992, Mr. Crump completed a degree in History with a Secondary-Education option. While waiting for a full-time teaching position to open, Larry’s coaching responsibilities at Bishop Kelly expanded to include football, girls’ golf and for a brief time, girls’ softball. His coaching experiences have provided many lessons learned and memories made. Mr. Crump began full-time teaching at Bishop Kelly in 1999. In 2006, he earned a Master’s degree from Lesley University in Education Technology and currently serves on Bishop Kelly’s technology committee.

Larry and his wife Kathryn (another BK grad) have five active children that keep life interesting away from school. Mr. Crump’s philosophy on life, education, family, etc. is simple: surround yourself with good people, love your family and friends, be good to people and honor God. He hopes that his students leave learning a little history, making a few friends and becoming the kind of people that will make the world a better place.
