 | Mr. Vince Derig Mathematics vderig@bk.org Mr. Derig comes by teaching naturally, both his mother and grandmother were teachers. His grandmother taught in a one-room school house and his mother taught high school history. As a result, Vince was familiar with teaching and has always felt confident about it.
Vince received his Bachelor’s degree from Boise State University in Business Administration. While at Boise State, Vince was involved in athletics which included playing on the football team. After graduation, he further pursued his love of sports through coaching. Vince has accrued over eighteen years of coaching experience in sports including football, basketball, and baseball. Mr. Derig’s teams have realized much success which has also resulted in various coaching accolades during his tenure.
At Bishop Kelly, Vince has coached softball and basketball and continues to coach football. He is also the moderator of the Varsity Club.
As a teacher Mr. Derig wants to be a positive influence on his students and provides an environment where everyone is welcome and education is fun. He believes that his students will graduate into a very competitive world and teaches that the hardest workers and the brightest minds will have a distinct advantage. He wants his students to know that they don’t have to be great at math to work hard and have success.
Prior to teaching, Vince worked as a commercial fisherman in Alaska and as an initial attack firefighter for Krassel Helitack.
