Mrs. Lindy Freeman
Language Arts
lfreeman@bk.org
Teaching allows Lindy to be a lifelong learner and instill in her students that same passion for embracing the world of ideas. She believes that the study of literature and writing has the power to provide a way for students to see themselves, voice their opinions and challenge the world.
Mrs. Freeman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Southern Oregon University. Later she obtained a Masters degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Oregon. She has an Idaho teaching certificate in both Advanced Secondary English and Communications.
In her classes Mrs. Freeman teaches her students to be autonomous adults who think critically and compassionately when confronted with problems and to find appropriate and God-centered solutions. She wants her students to see the world through multiple lenses and to realize that they are extraordinary individuals.
Her dedication to her students and teaching has earned Mrs. Freeman much recognition. She has won the Idaho Speech and Theater Arts Association – Speech Teacher of the Year multiple times and has been inducted into its Hall of Fame. Lindy is a three-time recipient of the Boise Century Scholar – Teacher Recognition Award. And last year she won the Bishop Kelly’s de La Salle, Patron Saint of Teaching Award as well as the History Club Award.
Away from Bishop Kelly, Lindy enjoys chasing the works of Italian artist Caravaggio. About 80 Caravaggio paintings are housed in museums, churches and palaces around the world; Mrs. Freeman has seen more than half.
