Dr. Guy Hudson had a successful career in the semi-conductor industry where he was widely published and had many patents. In 1999, after several years of working as an engineer or manager for Sematech, IBM Corporation, and Micron Technology, he left that industry to begin teaching Chemistry at Bishop Kelly.
Guy’s industry experience enriches his teaching as an instructor in Chemistry and Advanced Placement Chemistry. As he sees it, his role is to prepare students for college whether they ever take another chemistry class or not. In 2010, Doc Hudson and Doc Nez guided their Engineering Design class team to a 1st place finish in the JETS/AbilityOne National Engineering Design Challenge. In addition to teaching, he is the Quiz Bowl coach (state champs 2003), Science Olympiad head coach (as of 2011; state champs 2000, 2002-2010), has been Ski Club advisor (2005-2010) and is musician at school liturgies.
Outside of school, Dr. Hudson has been married for 25 years to a wonderful wife and mother. He has coached youth soccer and has served as a Scout leader. When he can find free time, Guy enjoys golf, snowboarding, fishing and playing guitar for his daughter while she plays fiddle. He has even completed a one hundred mile backpack trip with his son.
