Ms. Carol Nagel
Language Arts
cnagel@bk.org
Mrs. Nagel truly enjoys teaching freshmen and recognizes that her students are fluctuating between the emotions and abilities of elementary and secondary school students. She says that in 18 years of teaching freshmen, each class has been different and never becomes boring. Carol takes seriously the challenge of taking students from a variety of previous educational backgrounds and helping them integrate into a cohesive class beginning its journey through Bishop Kelly. That journey begins with meeting assignment deadlines, listening to and reading directions and following them, and expressing themselves through expository writing. Mrs. Nagel enjoys preparing freshmen to take on the student responsibilities that will increase from year to year.
In addition to teaching freshmen, Mrs. Nagel has been the long-time Bishop Kelly yearbook advisor. Under her tutelage Bishop Kelly’s yearbook, The Kelligan, has won many awards. Most recently, The Kelligan has been recognized for “Outstanding Theme” and “First Place Overall.” Last year Carol received the Silver Apple Award given to Josten’s outstanding yearbook advisor.
Mrs. Nagel received her bachelor’s degree from Boise College. She is a member of the national Journalism Education Association and the National Catholic Education Association. Carol has also lived in Washington D.C., Sacramento, CA, Coeur d’Alene, ID and Seattle, WA. For pleasure Mrs. Nagel enjoys reading, baking, movies, plays, shopping, and following orders from her mini-schnauzer, Albert.
