 | Mrs. Andrea Symmonds Language Arts asymmonds@bk.org Andrea Symmonds was born and raised in southern California and received her undergraduate degree in Drama from the University of California, Irvine. After moving to San Francisco where she met her husband, she received her teaching credential in Drama and English Literature from San Francisco State University. She has also has a MA in English from Boise State University.
As a teacher who teaches primarily seniors, Andrea sees her job as preparing her students for the challenging and complex world that they will enter after graduation. As a “continuing student of the world” her hobbies are traveling and watching foreign films because they give her a view of the world not often seen living in Boise. This year alone she will have visited China, Peru, Bolivia and Greece. Her most enjoyable trip each year is when she travels with a group of Bishop Kelly students on the Mexico Service Trip to San Vicente Guerrero in Baja, Mexico.
She is currently working on a history degree and expanding the contemporary world literature curriculum which allows her to indulge her passion for reading. She also works on learning Spanish in her spare time.
Though she enjoys traveling, she is always happy to return home to her thirteen acre organic ranch in Boise which she shares with her husband, and an assortment of animals including two llamas, three goats and a pair of geese named Zeus and Athena.
