 | Mrs. Jane Wilson Fine Arts jwilson@bk.org An artist herself, Jane Wilson shares her passion of art with her students. She loves to take art classes and seminars. Last summer she attended Penland Craft School in North Carolina for two weeks. Other recent art adventures have included classes in California, New Mexico, Montana, Oregon, and the Chicago Art Institute, as well as workshops sponsored by the local water color society and Boise State ceramics department. Jane loves to paint and also makes a lot of clay sculpture with themes that are either political or humorous.
While Mrs. Wilson’s education continues, it began at Washington State University where she received a BA in Art Education. She has also earned a MA in Art Education from Boise State University and is a member of the Idaho Watercolor Society.
Mrs. Wilson believes that art is a core component in a well-educated person. She feels that there is no better way for her to have spent her life then to encourage young people to unlock their innate artistic talents. Jane has always said that everyone possesses innate artistic abilities. When someone tells her that they cannot draw, she tells them that with the right training and practice they can.
The incredible student art displayed at Bishop Kelly is a great testament to how she nurtures artistic development. Jane Wilson was also named Idaho Art Teacher of the Year in 2005-2006.
Away from school Mrs. Wilson loves to swim, bike, yoga and walk her hyper Vizsla dog. Two unusual facts about Jane – she is the longest living employee of Bishop Kelly and she graduated from high school in a class of nine students; eight were girls.
