 | Mrs. Amy Yowell Mathematics ayowell@bk.org Mrs. Yowell has come from a background of teachers. From her grandmother, who taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grades to her father who taught Health, Physics and Radiation Safety, Mrs. Yowell learned that teaching was one of the most important jobs anyone could ever have.
Mrs. Yowell believes that mathematics continues to be a bridge to a world beyond just the ordinary. Understanding the basic principles of math can help make science seem easy. For her, math and music hand-in-hand, as music helps bring such things as fractions to life. Amy also sees the beauty of math in great art, such as in the works of M.C. Escher.
Mrs. Yowell enjoyed a great education at the College of Idaho (then Albertson College of Idaho), earning her BA in Mathematics Teaching and her minor in History, another great love. During college, she also made great friends in the art department, becoming the treasurer of the Art Club.
Her education is ongoing as Mrs. Yowell continues taking classes about everything from brain research to book-making. She enjoys traveling with her husband and daughter around the country, and once saw both the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans in the same month. Amy also enjoys writing and drawing her spare time.
