 | Mr. Patrick Connor Language Arts pconnor@bk.org Mr. Connor is now serving his third stint at Bishop Kelly High School. Patrick graduated from BK in 1993, he returned in 2004 to teach Sophomore English, departed for three years, only to come home again in 2007 to teach Speech and English. Mr. Connor brings a wealth of energy and enthusiasm to one of the most dreaded of all activities: Public Speaking. Never having a problem with speaking in front of people himself, Mr. Connor relishes his task of building students into poised public speakers.
His original intention was to stand up in front of a camera, not a class. The television industry was Mr. Connor’s first course of study, and he worked in the field at KTVB Channel 7 for 5 years before deciding to return to school to discover a more fulfilling role. The TV business did take Mr. Connor around the country and provided a world of experiences to bring to the classroom. Now, Mr. Connor finds great satisfaction in his position and enjoys watching students grow as speakers, for, as Mr. Connor states, the ability to communicate effectively is essential is today’s world, and speaking in public is essential to effective living.
Mr. Connor’s educational career began at Boise State University, where he received a B.A. in Communications, returning for a B.A. in Education a few years later. Desiring to continue his learning, Mr. Connor began a M.A. in Educational Leadership last fall and hopes to one day lead one of the Treasure Valley Catholic schools.
Mr. Connor possesses a great passion for sports, especially running, still competing in the local road races around the area and coaching track and field for BK. When Mr. Connor can get away from school, he loves going home to spend time with his wife Jessica, and two daughters Nire’ and Jone’ or at Basque festivities around town. An outdoor enthusiast, Mr. Connor loves backpacking in the Sawtooths, camping, and landscaping.
