 | Mr. William (Bill) Franklin Science bfranklin@bk.org Mr. Franklin comes to teaching and Bishop Kelly via a
less-traveled route. After earning a Bachelor’s of Science
degree in Wildlife Biology, he spent twelve years working
with a huge variety of exotic animals as a zookeeper.
As such, Bill has been trained and certified in the delivery
of immobilization drugs to animals with the use of hand
syringe, dart rifle and blow darts. He even claims that he
can hit a very small monkey with a blow dart from twenty feet away.
In 2008, Mr. Franklin earned his secondary education teaching certificate from Western
Governors University and began teaching Biology and Introduction to Chemistry and Physics
at Bishop Kelly. Through teaching he hopes to educate students in science concepts in the hope
of sparking a love and understanding of the world around them. Bill’s favorite part of teaching
is sharing information with his students and then seeing a spark as they become interested in the
content. Though dramatically different, zookeeper and teacher, Mr. Franklin has no doubt in his
mind that he made the right decision and loves teaching at Bishop Kelly.
Away from school, Mr. Franklin enjoys many outdoor activities such as camping, skiing,
mountain biking, hiking, hunting and gardening. He has been married for twenty years
and has an eleven-year old son |
