The Bishop Kelly Foundation proudly presents "A Knight's Tale," the 33rd annual Winner's Choice dinner and auction, November 7, 2009, at the Boise Centre on the Grove.

And what a “Tale” we have to tell!  Bishop Kelly’s mission is to education the whole student:  body, mind and spirit.  As you visit this website, we hope that you will take the time to read about the accomplishments of our students, and how our school is successfully accomplishing all three parts of our mission objectives.  Bishop Kelly is the only remaining Catholic high school in Idaho, and we depend on the support of those who value its academic excellence in a faith-based environment.

All proceeds from this event are returned to Bishop Kelly High School for scholarships and general operations. This past year, the Foundation provided more than $400,000 to support the school. These funds were derived from the proceeds of the Winner's Choice dinner and auction and from income received from the endowment.  In addition, the Foundation provided over $206,000 in need-based financial aid to students at Bishop Kelly.  This aid comes from gifts and memorials to our various scholarship funds, income from endowed scholarships, and from donations made during the Reverse Auction portion of the Winner’s Choice Auction.

The highlight of the evening is the car raffle, where one lucky ticket holder wins the 2010 automobile of his/her choice from the four on display that night provided by Meridian Ford.  The suspense mounts as each ticket number is drawn and eliminated from contention until only one winner remains.

Silent auction items range from beautifully decorated baskets and hand-made items to art work, furniture, sports equipment, electronics and more.  The live auction will feature items such as vacation packages, trips to sporting events, wine tastings, gourmet dinners, and more.  Tickets will be on sale beginning in September for $300 per pair, which includes dinner for two and a chance to win the car.  To purchase tickets or to make a donation of an item, service or cash, contact the Bishop Kelly Foundation at 323-4789 or e-mail Rita Franklin at rfranklin@bk.org

If you would like to donate an item, but aren’t sure what to contribute, we invite you our office.  Additionally, you could consider one of the following:

·         Do you routinely frequent a particular business or service?  Often, those businesses are happy to provide a donation to a good customer’s cause.

·         Or, if you use professional services, perhaps that professional would consider donating a portion of your fees, and you would pay that fee to the school instead of to them.  This would be labeled a prepaid auction item.  As a tax-deductible donation to a school, it would also qualify for Idaho’s income tax credit for charitable donations.

·         Do you, or does someone you know, have an occupation that a student might be interesting in “shadowing”?  Bidders are often interested in purchasing shadow day(s) for their children to observe various jobs.

·         Gift Certificates for local restaurants; tickets to sporting or cultural events; sports-related gear; art; baskets (kitchen basket, breakfast basket, books basket, mojito, margarita or other "party" baskets" are popular); or the latest electronic "gadget"--all of these are great items.  Of course, money is always helpful to us!  We can purchase auction items in your name, or enhance existing packages with additional funds.

If you plan on contacting a local business you know to ask for a donation, please contact the Foundation Office first to ensure they are not already on our donor list!  Thank you.

Your participation makes a huge difference.  We hope to see you there!
