Mrs. Braden began teaching at Bishop Kelly the fall of 1981. She says she loves teaching high school students, and she must as she has been at it now for over 36 years!

Mrs. Braden earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Brigham Young University and was selected the Outstanding Business Student from her class. She also has a Reading Certificate and Technology Certificate from Boise State University. Further, Deana continues to take classes in order to keep current with the ever-changing technology. She has attended the Albertson Foundation’s “Teaching with Technology” program, Boise State’s two-year “Train the Trainer” program, and ongoing Microsoft Training Courses and Google Apps for Education. Mrs. Braden and her classes were chosen to participate for three years in the National GenY Program for technology.  Her students compete annually in the Doodle 4 Google Contest, and one of her students was chosen as a top 40 entrant from over 120,000 entrants.

As a technology teacher, Mrs. Braden feels that she is sometimes the “chief learner” and loves how students and teachers learn from one another. Deana knows that teaching technology is important, as it equips students with essential life skills. She believes that her students will see incredible things happen in the field of technology in their lifetime and wants them to leave her classroom feeling confident and prepared for their future.

Mrs. Braden is an active volunteer in her community. She participates each week at her church, participates in several humanitarian projects, and is a member of the Boise chapter of MADD. Spending time with her four children and seven grandchildren is among her favorite things to do along with reading, spending time with friends, and going to the movies. She also loves traveling and camping. Mrs. Braden sings, plays the piano and the organ.

Mrs. Braden has been at Bishop Kelly since 1981. She is a member of the Computer Technology Department.
