Dear Parents,

Over the next few weeks I will be contacting many of you to request either new, or updated information regarding health care concerns and individual plans for students with medical conditions which may affect them at school. This includes food or insect allergies, diabetes, etc. It is important that I have this information, as we strive to provide the safest environment possible for your student.

In addition, if your student will be taking medication at school, please fill out this Authorization for Medication Administration and return it to school.

Thank you!

MaryLou Cunningham, BSN, NCSN, MHS
Coordinator, Saint Alphonsus School Health Program

—Students who become ill or injured during the school day must go to the Nurse’s Office. If it is during class time, the student must inform the teacher and request a pass to see the School Nurse. The nurse will determine whether the student must go home due to illness. If it is decided that the student should go home, the nurse will contact the parent/guardian. It will be established at that time how the student will be transported home. Students are not to contact parents/guardians via phone call or text before they have seen the nurse If the student will be going home, they will get their belongings and then the student must go to the Attendance Office to sign out.

Freshmen and New Students will have their school photos taken at New Student Academy. Any Freshmen or New Students who are unable to attend New Student Academy will have their photos taken on Orientation Day, August 16th.
All returning students will have their school photos taken on Orientation Day, August 16th.

Your student will have seven classes each semester, and each class may have specific expectations for supplies needed. Other than a laptop computer and basic supplies, such as three ring binders, loose leaf paper, pens, and pencils, it is suggested that you wait until after your child receives the course syllabus during the first week of school to purchase more specific school supplies. For information on laptop specifications and recommendations, please review our website on 1:1 Technology.

We are excited to inform you of a couple of significant changes in our counseling department that will make our counseling team even more accessible than ever before. Additionally, we would like to introduce our new counselors to you, and provide you a way to communicate your needs while we transition to the 2021-2022 school year.
One significant change for next year is where our counseling staff will be located. As one of our summer projects, we are in the midst of building a centralized counseling center that will be located in the heart of our school across from the Fraser Library. We are excited that our counseling staff will be more central and much more accessible to our students.
Another change for next year is that we are adding a 4th academic counselor to our team. Starting in August, we will have four general academic counselors, one full time college & career counselor, a full time registrar, and a full time service learning coordinator all located in our new counseling center. By adding a 4th academic counselor, our student to counselor ratios will be closer to 230 as opposed to being well over 300.  We are very excited about the much needed expansion to our team and the impact it will have on counseling support for students.
Last, I wanted to inform you of some changes in our counseling staff for next year. Two of our counselors from this past year, Mr. Kristensen and Mrs. Kane, have chosen not to return for the 2021-2022 school year. With those changes, plus the addition of one more full time counselor, we have three new counselors joining our team for the 2021-2022 school year. Below you’ll find a breakdown of alpha groups by grade level with counselor assignment and further below a brief introduction to our new counselors.

New Counselors for 2021 – 2022

Lindsay Godard – Fulltime Counselor
Mrs. Godar joins the BK counseling team from the Nampa School District at Skyview High School. Lindsay is moving into her first position as a fulltime building counselor after 15 years as a high school English teacher and after successfully completing her Master’s Degree in School Counseling. As part of her 600 hour counseling internship, Lindsay has experiences in individual and group counseling, response to intervention and positive behavior support, academic advising and graduation, college and career planning.
Julie Netz – Fulltime Counselor
Mrs. Netz joins Bishop Kelly from the West Ada School District, most recently as a college/ career counselor at Mountain View High School. Julie brings over 16 years of college and career counseling experience and holds a Masters Degree in School Counseling.
Matt Satchwell – Fulltime Counselor
Mr. Satchwell joins Bishop Kelly from San Juan Unified School District in California. Mr. Satchwell brings four years of counseling experience as well as teaching and coaching experience. Mr. Satchwell holds a Masters Degree in Educational Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.

Just for Seniors

If you would like to purchase a Senior Dedication Ad that goes in the yearbook, please see THIS FLIER from This is completely optional, but many seniors look forward to the nice personal notes from their family.  The price goes up the longer you wait to order one.  The final deadline is usually in January, and reminders will go out via BK Alive as it nears the deadline.  However, you can order early!

Parker Portraits will be at Bishop Kelly on October 13, 2021 from 8:00 AM -12:00 PM to take senior tux/drape photos if you are not using your own photographer. The cost is $10 for the sitting. This is a day with no scheduled classes, so students will need to sign up on a Google Form. The link will be sent out starting in September and students must sign up by October 1st. Time slots will be given to students in advance, and they will be determined by the order in which people are signed up.

A few weeks after the sitting, you will receive a proof sheet with two pose options to choose from. If you don’t like either photo, you can certainly use your own photographer. The only additional cost is if you decide to order photos. Parker Portraits will submit the picture directly to Bishop Kelly.
