Welcoming new Faculty and Staff to BK this Fall!

Dear Bishop Kelly Families,

In addition to the Counseling Staff we introduced in this post,  we would like to take a moment to introduce the wonderful new faculty and staff that will be joining the BK Family this coming school year. We are excited to add some high quality talent to our team! Join us in welcoming them to the BK Community.

Language Arts

Paityn Fredericks- English (9th and 11th)
Ms. Fredericks joins our English Department after one full year of teaching in the West Ada School District. Ms. Fredericks comes with not only a strong academic background with a degree in Secondary Education and English from the University of Idaho, but also excellent leadership and public volunteer experience. Ms. Fredericks will also be assisting in our Volleyball program.

Nolan Turner – English (10th and 12th)
Mr. Turner comes fresh out of his student teaching experience in the Boise School District, but also comes with 3 years of college level teaching experience in teaching English 101, 2102 and English 306 (creative writing) as an adjunct professor. Mr. Turner has a strong writing background and a special expertise in creative writing. Mr. Turner has both a Masters in Creative Writing and a Master in Teaching.

Mathematics

Mrs. Dawn Hill-  Part Time Math (Algebra 101)
Mrs. Hill was hired in late fall to take over our Girls Soccer Program and comes from Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, Ca. Mrs. Hill has nearly two decades of coaching and math teaching experience. Mrs. Hill has special expertise in accounting and finance and holds a teaching credential in Mathematics.

Science/Technology

Dr. Stephanie Barnes-  Computer Science and Physics
Dr. Barnes joins the Bishop Kelly team coming from the Windward School in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Barnes holds a B.S. in Material Science & Engineering from Boise State University and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from California Institute of Technology. Stephanie is a native of Idaho and is looking forward to returning to Boise.

Electives

Crista Murray- PT Psychology 
Dr. Murray joins Bishop Kelly as an adjunct instructor to teach Psychology 101. Dr. Murray is currently an adjunct professor at Boise State, College of Western Idaho and Northwestern State University. Dr. Murray also runs her own private practice specializing in mental wellness, anxiety and other mental health issues. Dr. Murray has extensive background in the field of psychology as an instructor and as a practitioner. Dr. Murray holds a Doctor of Psychology from California Southern University and a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from University of West Florida.

Vickie Gooch- PT Forensics
Mrs. Gooch joins our team as an adjunct instructor to teach Forensics. Mrs. Gooch earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice Administration. Currently Mrs. Gooch serves as a Detective for the Major Crimes Unit for the Idaho State Police and teaches a variety of criminal and forensic science based courses at the college level at Boise State and College of Western Idaho. Ms. Gooch brings a gold mine of experiences and subject matter expertise to this position.

Kylee Koenig – PT Art/ Drawing
Mrs. Koenig (03’ BK Alum) recently completed her Masters in Teaching in Curriculum and Instruction with a K-12 Art Endorsement from Boise State University. Mrs. Koenig finished her student teaching in the Boise School District this past spring while teaching Art, Arts and Crafts, and Creative Crafts. She also is the owner and teacher at Torched Glassworks where she teaches lampworks classes. Mrs. Koenig will be teaching Drawing this coming year at BK.

Theology

Katie Stroschein- FT Theology (9th and 11th)
Mrs. Stroschein is a known local and joins BK from St. Marks. Mrs. Strochein has a breadth of experience in teaching theology, Spanish and in youth ministry. Mrs. Strochen has a B.A in Bilingual/ Multicultural Education from Boise State and a Masters Degree in Theology from Notre Dame.

Rob Pannell- PT Theology (9th)
Mr. Pannell brings a formal background and experience as a Theology Instructor. He’s taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels and has done confirmation prep for over 40 years, has served as a Catholic Missionary in Belize and was the 2014 recipient of the Cardinal Donald Weurl “Manifesting the Kingdom Award” for his lifetime service as an Instructor of Theology for the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. Mr. Pannell recently completed his BA Degree in Theology. graduating Summa Cum Laude from DeSales University. Most recently, Mr. Pannell has been assisting the High School Youth Ministry program at Holy Apostles Catholic Church. Mr. Pannell will teach one period of Freshmen Theology this school year.

Support Staff

Alejandrina Flores- Librarian Assistant
Ms. Flores has been a substitute teacher at Bishop Kelly since January and was a runner up in our front desk support position a couple of years ago. Ms. Flores has been extremely reliable, hardworking and trustworthy and has an excellent temperament and experience for the position of Librarian Assistant. Ms. Flores has  B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice and a minor in Business Administration.

Ruth Loza- IT Support Technician
Ms. Loza has been a technology assistant with the Buhl School District since May 2018.  She has an Associates Degree in Psychology from the College of Southern Idaho and is working on her B.A. in Graphic Design and Media Arts from Southern New Hampshire University.  She not only has technology experience in education, but also is skilled in website design and as a media creator.  She is fluent in Spanish (actually English is her second language).  She also entered the religious life as a Discalced Carmelite from late 2016 to May 2018.  Ruth will begin with our IT group on July 5th.
