Safe Environment Compliance

The Diocese of Boise has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual abuse. It is behavior that degrades and diminishes the value of each human person and will not be tolerated. The goal of these policies is to continue to provide tools to protect our youth from the damaging effects of sexual abuse and to address sexual misconduct as a whole in our Diocese. These policies reflect vigilance in protecting children, including establishing ongoing safe environment programs that encompass standards of behavior for all personnel, screening practices, and continued training and education for all, including employees, volunteers, and children. Safe Environment Requirements

New Employees / Volunteers

Safe Environment Class

  • ALL employees and volunteers who have regular contact with minors MUST attend an in-person Safe Environment class before having contact with Bishop Kelly students and/or any minor within the diocese.
    • Contact the Bishop Kelly Director of Human Resources, Amy Eisele, at aeisele@bk.org for a schedule of upcoming classes.

Background Checks

  • Volunteers- unpaid persons working in a Diocesan parish or school program.
    • All volunteers who have regular contact with minors must pass a criminal background check through the approved Diocesan vendor, CICS Employment Services, before starting their volunteer service.  
    • Volunteers must renew their diocesan background check every five years.
  • Employees (Church Personnel)- paid persons working in a Diocesan parish or school.
    • Employees must complete and clear the Diocesan criminal background check and the required Idaho Department of Education’s FBI criminal background check before working with minors.
    • Diocesan Criminal Background Check
      • Click on the link below to complete and submit your diocesan background check to Bishop Kelly’s Human Resources Department.
    • Idaho Department of Education’s FBI Criminal Background Check
      • Please email BK’s Director of HR,  Amy Eisele, at aeisele@bk.org to schedule a time to complete the required fingerprinting and forms.
      • FBI results can take 2 – 6 weeks depending on the time of year.

Current Employees / Volunteers

Safe Environment Class

  • ALL current employees and volunteers who have regular contact with minors MUST renew their Safe Environment certificate EVERY YEAR before their current certificate expires, online, through CMG Connect to be able to continue working with Bishop Kelly students and/or any minors within the diocese.
